You can put XP on most of the Acer netbooks providing you have a free licence, with the drivers for the machine on XP. You will also require to have a external drive to install the os.

I'd leave the operating systems as they are with these netbooks. They may come across as fully fledged laptops but the OS is chosen for them is so battery life is kept up and software runs quickly. That's why they run XP home and Linux lite.

It doesn't come with the software but you can load your own on via an external DVD drive or by downloading it from the internet.

This would be suitable, it wouldnt run Microsoft Word but you could run an alternative which saves in common formats.

No, this is an ultra-portable laptop - It is designed to be used with external DVD drives as an internal one would make the unit bigger.
