The 1000H uses a SATAII drive - If you don't mind voiding the warranty then you can swap this at a later date with a SSD.

The best way to do this would be with an extenal drive which can be connected via a usb port.

Solid state drives are based on flash memory and have no moving parts. This model ( EEEPC1000H-BK007X ) has a traditional hard drive, not a solid state drive.
